Haul Truck Bed Rebuild

These pictures are from rebuilding several haul truck beds at the open pit copper mine just out side Ely, Nevada.   There's a good solid week of 6, 12's at the start just gouging all the old liner plates out and damaged structural components off before cutting the center of the floor out to be able to replace the broken frame work bolsters underneath.The less pleasant part was gouging this grid work of heavy flat bar off the tail board area.The old liner plates had a lot of stress in them from being work hardened and it was best to back step down the weld when gouging them off to let them pop loose in 1 to 2 foot increments so you didn't end up getting slapped by one when it jumped free.  The new center bolsters welded in place ready for a new section of floor plate to go in.The new floor plate just about welded in.
Reply:New floor liner plates going in.Lots of dog and wedging to get things in tight for welding.       The new clad tailboard pieces tacked in ready for welding out.
Reply:Clad tailboard plates welded out.As we'd get one done they'd bring another haul truck that needed it's bed rebuilt up to where we were working and swap out the beds.
