I know it's been a while... So moving along, what is this?Common sense in an uncommon degree is what the world calls wisdom.

Reply:A D&C tool for abortions, nice job cleaning it up. Too big for elephants, maybe for whales? Seriously, I'd guess a pipe cleaner, but the universal joint would cause it to bind.An optimist is usually wrong, and when the unexpected happens is unprepared. A pessimist is usually right, when wrong, is delighted, and well prepared.
Reply:I'd say it's for cleaning or knurnling the inside of a pipe, the cone "gears" look like they would keep it centered and the side gears look like they are closer in design to a star wheel dresser than a gear, looks like they are multiple pieces that would knock scale loose.
Reply:You guys were just about spot-on. I have a friend that works at a local paper mill and he snagged it from a pile of junk. He believes that they used to use it on their old steam lines. You mount it on a shaft and rotate it down the pipe to knock off any buildup. I never measured it, but I bet it would work on 3 1/2" thru 5" pipe because the arms with the tapered gears can swing outwards for larger diameters.Common sense in an uncommon degree is what the world calls wisdom.
Reply:so , it's a pig, then.
Reply:Yea it's a Wilson tube cleaner for removing scale on the inside of boiler tubes. We usually ran our's from a water turbine and had it attached to reinforced hose @ 175 psi water . I have a lot of hours behind one of those .Put a lot of money in the the bank doing it to .

Reply:gxbxc made bacon with it...so a pig it is.certainly was not a planetary,bc   absence of the "sun" central gear in the middle of orbiting gears.
