I am probably going to get a miller 251 to use at work. I do metal fabrication mostly on 1/4 steel. Lately I have used a old Miller 3-Phase Stick welder and a Lincoln 135 for thin metals and tacking.I build parts for trailered generators. Like brackets and exhust pipes mainly. Exhuast pipes are usually 1/8 steel and most brackets are at least 1/4"I may on occassion weld up to 1/2" . I am investing in my own welder to hopefully make my job a bit easier. Our actual welding shop uses the 251 and I have been sent to help those guys a few times and liked how they welded. I can pick up a NEW 251 for 1670.00 from our local welding supply. I think it is a good deal but not sure what they are running elsewhere.Any suggestions?
Reply:I've been pleased with the Miller 251 I used on the farm. Will weld just about anything in sight.
