Ok i am a one man show. I need a new engine drive. I do a little of everything from bucket repair to railings to aluminum flatbeds. I am 100% mobile as of right now bc rent is 2300 for 900sqft here. Money is tight. I was looking at the ranger 250gxt bc of the free wire feed you get with it. Well then I saw that the 305g is only 400 more, then the trailblazer is only 350 more that the 305g. I am confused. I like lincoln just bc I wish I was a pipeliner lol. The tig functions on the trailblazer seem nice and a dedicated gauge setting. I heard the lincoln stick welds better. I have a bunch of inverters so anything fancy will be done with that. The engine drive will be mostly flux core, maybe dual sheild once in a blue moon and stick. Gas is insane out here at the moment so i try not to use it. ( 800 for a 300cfm bottle of argon). The 250 gxt seem like a great deal with the feeder but not sure if its enough machine or if I will hate the stick welding.
Reply:A good friend of mine has a 305G. Very nice welder! Only thing that would concern me is how long that little engine would last if a guy really had to pour the coals to the welder. Say 60 to 70-pounds of wire a day. Right now I’m trying to talk myself into buying a Lincoln Vantage 400. http://www.lincolnelectric.com/en-us...olnElectric%29Don’t pay any attention to meI’m just a hobbyist!CarlDynasty 300V350-Pro w/pulseSG Spool gun1937 IdealArc-300PowerArc 200ST3 SA-200sVantage 400
Reply:That's a lot of welder for a hobbyist!Eventual master of the obvious, practitioner of "stream of consciousness fabrication".  P.S. I edit almost every post because because I'm posting from my phone and my fingers sometimes move faster than my brain.

Reply:I love my trailblazer 325 too! If stick performance is that much of a concern to u i guess buy a sa 200 but i really wouldnt be trying to make a decision on the 305g vs the 325 based on the stick performance cuz i would think they are about the same, although some with experience with both machines may disagree.   I chose the miller cuz it seemed like a higher quality build and the excel power optionDynasty 200DX   (2014)Millermatic 211 (2015)Optrel 864   (2014)Smith Medium duty MBA 30510 (Xmas 2014)Tennsmith 16ga 4ft finger brake (2015)Trailblazer 325 EFI and excel Thermal dynamics Cutmaster 82Miller maxtron 450
Reply:Thanks for the suggestions still lost lol I am trying to buy a sa200 to rebuild but more for fun and as a back up machine.
Reply:SA-200s suck. I wouldn’t own one!  Attached ImagesDon’t pay any attention to meI’m just a hobbyist!CarlDynasty 300V350-Pro w/pulseSG Spool gun1937 IdealArc-300PowerArc 200ST3 SA-200sVantage 400
Reply:I would have prefered the 305 as well but that wire feeder was more important and I am happy to have ac as a condolence. Lincoln does seem to have a following.

Reply:I've ran both if you do alu a lot get the Miller they have the best portable Alu setup. I run a Lincoln in my truck it runs Alu arc is is about the same between machines but the Miller has a way nicer gun setup (I run a profax on my truck and Miller 30 on xmt in shop) Lincoln Alu guns suck I've used them they don't have the same feed etc as the Miller hence the profax on my truck.   As for a 305g not lasting if you pour the coals to it I've run them for 14hr days full out dumping dual shield welds down in pile work ln25 feeder maxed out on feed they will run for 1000s of hrs.High Octane Welding

Reply:Buy the 305, will do fine!  CEP the 350 is the best welder ever made ,buy a 17500 Generac and take it to the field .Alot cheaper than a Commander!
Reply:I'm not in the market for a new engine drive. I don't really need the one I have but I like to keep up with the technology that's on the market. I think if I were to buy a new air cooled engine drive the Miller Trailblazer 325EFI would be my choice. The primary reason for this choice is the AutoSpeed feature. The main thing I hate about lawnmower engine welders is the noise this feature would be huge to me in that respect along with fuel economy and increased engine life.
