Hi,I have an older (1965) sae300 (1600RPM) with the Continental 226 engine. Just wondering what the weld lug voltages should be and where would the control knobs be set to check the same. This machine has the continuous amp output control which I set about midway and I set fine control on max. I read 98 on weld output lugs and 117 on the plug outlet at 1600 RPM. It welds fine. I assume that voltage levels are comparible to the SA200, but I don't know for sure. Any thoughts on this question? Thanks much!Lake
Reply:If it's like my SAM 400, to check OCV the fine output control should be wide open and it doesn't matter where the reactor / coarse control is set. My SAM's OCV is 95 at the weld lugs, and 120V at the receptacles. You adjust the receptacle voltage by engine RPM - which should be on your faceplate. RPM changes also affect OCV on my machine, and on SA-200's also. My SAM originally had a Continental F245 6-cyl and ran at 1800 RPM. You can look on Lincoln's website for your operator's manual, and it may have OCV readings listed in the specs. If not, call Lincoln's tech line and speak with Bob Crow. |
