Hey guys here are a  couple weld beads from me, they were done using a new to  me 1970's round top Idealarc 250 AC/DC welder. Please take in mind the last time I stick welded I was in Jr. High School. I am running 1/8" 6010 by Weldcote at around 90 to 95 amps. There is also a picture of the welder I'm using and my make shift welding station.Let me know what you think, any constructive criticism is welcome. Thanks in advance, Attached ImagesLast edited by mattt1977; 04-01-2015 at 10:55 PM.
Reply:1st pict your travel speed is a bit too fast. I can tell that from the pointy shape of the ripples. Compare that to the last pict where it looks like you slowed down and your ripples are almost circular. A bit of wander on the last bead, but not bad at all.If you were trying to run a pad vs individual beads, you need to overlap each one a bit more than you show. If running individual beads you look good..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Reply:Doesn't look bad at all. 6010 often has pointed ripples because guys crank their heat up and can travel a lot faster. That's a nice looking Idealarc. Try some 5p+ Lincoln 6010. Use a straight edge and put some soapstone lines to follow so your beads are straight.
