Crappy cast aluminum from China This is the base for a outdoor table that is made from cast aluminum (made to look like cast iron). The wind picked it up and blow it across the yard and broke it in a few places. Now I get to try and put it back together. This is some really crappy cast, welding it has been a learning experience to say the least. These are the settings I have found to work the best so far.3/32" E31/16" 4043 filler15 to 18 CFH150 amps ( using the pedal )150 HZ20 to 25% ENOnly weld a 1/2" then move to another spot, etc, etc. If you get it to hot it will just melt away on you.Got one piece almost done and a lot more to go.Some pictures Attached Imageswww.georgesplasmacuttershop.comPlasma Cutter and Welder Sales and Repairs--Ebay storeTec.Mo. Reply:I weld on that stuff all the time for the area powder coater. I've found sand down in the aluminum as well as holes from poor castings. I usually spool gun it and don't have any trouble.
