I'm selling it...... for the amount that it means to me........ $350...... Here is my Craigslist Ad.......http://austin.craigslist.org/tls/3119030526.htmlThought I would share here just in case someone local might have an interest.......Precision TIG 185 and MP 210Bobcat 225NTCutmaster 42O/A tanks.... 2 Argon tanks...... 2 C25 TanksFacebook...... Reply:I thought Liberty Ships were made out of cement due to steel shortages during WWII. Maybee for the rebar but that was in short supply.

Reply:Thats a cool old machine!! Around here, just looking at the local craigslist, you could get $400-$600 for it. I'd give $350 for it if I were closer, I bet with a good cleaning it would be set for another 100 years and 100% duty cycle sure is sweet. Good luck selling it [Account Abandoned 8/8/16 Please Do Not Attempt Contact Or Expect A Reply]. See you on YouTube! -ChuckE2009

Reply:Say DSW, do you know if  the cement ships were actually called Liberty ships or just built by the Liberty Ship building CO. I guess they actually used alot of welding to tie the slabs together and used a couple to invade Normandy. Say FeXAl, that 2/0 welding wire should be worth about $2/foot or say $160 (80 ft) at scrap prices. From what Ive heard is that pennies made before 1984 are solid copper and worth 3cents apiece. The present pennies are Cu clad and only worth a cent. Does anyone know the truth or am I just spreading a rumor?
Reply:Take the copper out sell it.  Make  a table, or kitchen cabinet out of the rest or safe or lamp or night stand. with the shell, then sell that too.  Or just keep the shell intact,   it works the same with or without the internal parts if you don't use it.
Reply:Keep it bro! I would, unless you wanna use the $ for something else. Thats a cool piece to keep around bud!I hate being bi-polar it's awsomeMy Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys
Reply:Use the shell for a robot cabinet to hold consummibles and make a new shell for the xfmr so that it still welds and sell the the welder as a FeXAl unit. Should be able to get scrap price out of a werking unit.BTW whats that top cabinet part?  ARC Stabilizer? Also, 110 amp tap should be an easy fix with an ohm meter unless it is an open circuit deep within the xfmr windings.

Reply:So denrep, the Liberty ships were steel but Kaiser if Im not mistaken did alot with concrete including the Hoover dam. And I just found this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henry_J._Kaiser.I originally thought the Liberty's were all cement but as I just learned, they were ferro-cement with lots of welding. The cement as it turns out, protected them from U-boat torpedos.Another useless but interesting fact; Kaiser and Czar are German and Russian for Ceasar.Maybee Fexal should put that machine in a maritime museum if it  was used by Kaiser.Ironic that Kaiser would play such an important role in defeating the Waffen SS.

Reply:"Liberty Ship" is often used as a generic term to cover all the emergency ship designs of WWII. Sort of like "Kleenex" is used to describe any facial tissue.  In fact true "Liberty" ships were just one specific steel hull design. There were also "Victory Ships" that look very similar to Liberty's and were often built in the same yards, but were slightly longer, had "cleaner" lines, larger engines and almost 50-80% more top end speed. It takes someone who really knows ships to tell the two types apart really. Towards the latter part of the war most new ships were of the "Victory" design for obvious reasons. Concrete ships were just another emergency shipping design, though the ones for WWII were better designed than those for WWI.Several builders built the concrete ships. The link in my 1st post covers which company/yard built each of the concrete ships. Also built were quite a number of concrete "Barges". They were almost exactly like the concrete "ships" but lacked the propulsion systems. They didn't look like what most think of when you hear the term "barge" today. There's a few interesting facts buried in the individual ship descriptions. It took me a while to go thru all of them..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Actually, a government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we'll ever see on this earth! Ronald Reagan
