Hooking up a 4 pin magnum sg to lincoln 255c

I managed to score a magnum sg for $250 brand new never usedI know you need an adapter to gun the 6 pin to 7 pin on the 255c but the gun I bought has a square connector and wires that you can hook up to pretty much any machine.this gun does not have the remote wire speed control on it which is why it has only 4 wires2 for the trigger and 2 for the motor.the manual that came with the gun tells me which wires go where.now I want to buy the 7 pin connector and just wire it myselfthe problem is I dont know which wires are what on the 7 pin connector. does anyone know? I would prefer not to find out the hard way I know some people on here have done all kinds of spool gun conversionsI have searched on the internet and this forum as well as contacted lincoln it will take them a little while to email back
Reply:You are going to have to call Lincoln tech support on this one.The 4 pin spool guns use the welder speed pot. and the welder  has a switch that switches motors. designed for the small welders. And the low end roll a rounds. The 255C is designed for a spool gun that has a speed pot in the handle.
Reply:Fair enough lets hope it works, and if it doesnt I will sell the gun off for the price its a pretty decent gunHopefully I can hook it up, I rember with some machines you could adjust on the dial or on the gun lets hope this is the case and i can adjust the wire speed on the machine.for my purposes not having the remote wire speed control isnt really a big deal
Reply:The 255c has two different control channels on the control pcb. The spool gun channel may require a speed pot connected to the spool gun plug to be able to control the spool gun motor. The main motor has a tachometer and the spool gun does not.The simplified diagram I have, did not show if the front panel control was usable for a spool gun or just Miggun only.
