Reply:The Lincoln engine drive was a good, easy to work on machine. I worked at a fence company that used them for aux. 115 volt power or running 1/8' 6013. Never had a problem with the smaller gas tank as we might have ran them for an hour a day, 2-3 times a week. I liked the battery box, too. Easy to jump start, unlike the current Miller's with the buried battery. Good quality running gear.

Reply:This motor drive Hobart for $175. Detailed as nicely as a show car. 300 amp 10 speed unit, with the fine adjust removable to use as a remote. Huh? What did you say? I can't hear you over the welder. Because of the noise of the fan and the brushes it needs longer leads, but it welds almost as sweet as my engine drive Lincoln. Reply:https://houston.craigslist.org/tls/5749028624.htmlThis could potentially be a good score. Anyone know how much one of the boards cost that they are refering to? I asume they meant pc board. If i can get them repaired for a decent price i might look into this.
Reply:I wonder....The local tech school near me where my cousin teaches has had to destroy the circuit boards when the manufacturer donates or sells the school new ones way cheaper than msrp. He's told me that he has taken hammers to the boards while the manufacturers rep watched him. I've been lucky to pick a few up and thanks to him, not all are hit in the same spot...so some extra time and some decent soldering tools, I've been able to save a few from the dumpster...had to kinda sneak them out of the dumpster but here in GA, when you toss it in the garbage it technically doesn't belong to anyone

Reply:I sent him a text asking what curcuit board needed replacement and all he said was the tech he talked to told him the pc board needed to be replaced. I wish i knew more about it. If i could buy one for $400 and it only needs a couple hundred in repair it would be worth it, but i dont know if i want to take that risk.Yeah. Im gonna pass. Im really wanting to get into learning the tig process but ill wait for a better deal.
Reply:Man, there isn't an inverter on this planet you're going to repair for a couple hundred bucks I've been working on them for ten plus years and have learned the hard way how that story goes. What he isn't telling you is when the main board failed, it took the power modules and input rectifier along with it. Sure, sometimes you get lucky and pick one up that really does have just a simple problem and it was thought to be something much more serious. This usually happens when a machine comes in the tech has no familiarity with and after doing the prescribed checks in the manual, gives up and says it's too expensive to repair.Generally speaking, control and interconnect board for machine like this are going to start in the upper $600s and just go up from there. A quick check online shows boards for that machine easily costing over a grand a piece. That's just counting the board. Of course, if any other components are damaged, the price goes up. Plus, some machines will need to have one part replaced to see if another is bad. Put a brand new board in a machine with a hidden problem, guess what? You just blew up a thousand dollar board to find that out. I've had enough board heartbreaks to know that you're seriously rolling the dice on something like this. There's a reason the guy is ditching them on CL. He likely got them for nothing from an employer or cheap at auction. Sure, if you knew your way around these machines and had some experience it may be worth picking them up in hopes that tou may be able to make a couple good machines out of them all.Revisions play into things too, and sometimes machines that have been manufactured for a number of years may have extensive revisions made to their internal components, basically rendering used parts interchangeability between certain model years impossible.Believe me bro, I've cried the blues over stuff like this enough to know its a huge risk at the asking price. Say $500 for them all? Maybe....IMHO of courseExpert Garage Hack....https://www.facebook.com/steven.webber.948
