I have this small cylinder and I’m curious if someone could point me in the right direction for the valve connection. I’d like to be able to fill it from a larger cylinder, ideally.
Reply:While that looks similar to a small medical oxygen bottle valve it is missing the o-ring. Here is a pic of the various types of valves that look similar.I suggest you just buy a new valve of the correct type and use that. So much easier and probably cheaper than trying to buy fittings and adapters.  Since this cylinder initially had air, you will need to purge it several times to remove the bulk of the air and any contaminants. Even then, your first couple of fills and welds will probably show bad gas while welding.Last edited by psacustomcreations; 07-07-2021 at 04:32 AM.Millermatic 252 MIGMiller Dynasty 200DX TIGMiller Spectrum 625 PlasmaAltas 12x36 Metal LatheBridgeport Milling Machinewww.psacustomcreations.com
Reply:Going to be hard to find the transfill hose made up with end on it to fit that I think. They fill them so that end is out there somewhere. Probably have to buy the pieces and have the hose made up at hydraulic supply. You may have a better deal by just replacing the valve with a more common type. Or is that the valve you use now and your regulator fits that already and needs to stay that wayLast edited by danielplace; 07-07-2021 at 09:28 AM.
Reply:Thank you both. It's a nitrogen tank and I would like to use it for a beverage-dispensing setup (e.g., wine). I agree that it seems easier to get a new valve for it.

Reply:Thanks for the additional info.
Reply:What gas to you want to fill the cylinder with? If CO2, you need to find out if you need a dip tube (also called a syphon tube) in the cylinder to draw out liquid CO2. Your cylinder won't work if you do. You'd also need a dip tube in the filling cylinder unless you wanted to lift the cylinder upside down to get the liquid out. CO2 is always a liquid form in the cylinder much like propane. In mix gases CO2 can be in the gas state but usually the CO2 is added first as a liquid and weighed to get the proper amount.Last edited by Welder Dave; 07-09-2021 at 12:27 PM.

Reply:It would funny to see a bunch of wino's standing on their heads because someone used too much argon to preserve/pressurize their wine. Instead of a needle exchange for drug addicts there could be an inversion table room for wino's.
