Looking for a beginner setup to do HF on aluminum. I had a SW 200 in the past and sold it. I’m wondering  if there are any better options out there now in roughly the same price range? Tweeco, Esab, Miller?  Wanting multi voltage, foot pedal, portability.  Thanks.
Reply:I recently purchased a Primeweld 225 AC/DC for $825  to use in my home garage, and have been very happy with it. I have even used it at work for some jobs because of the Multi-voltage, and portability. I comes with  : CK torch, good foot pedal, regulator, tungstens and collets, stinger for stick welding, even a torch switch for 2t/4t. The extra amps make this start up on aluminum faster than my Syncrowave 180, or my econotwinHF. Its not my only TIG machine, and it comes with a 3 year warranty, and the company still answers phone calls. My friend has had the lincoln SW200 for several years now, and I ask him if he likes it. He said its a really great machine. I asked how thick aluminum does he weld with it, and he says, "I've never really used it on aluminum". Most of his work with it was as a portable stainless unit for a food factory. HTP makes a nice machine , not sure if they are available , I've heard some machines weren't available. You can check the website(USAWELD).Good luckPS Here's a big old Hobart HF250 near me for $500  :    https://newjersey.craigslist.org/tls...355869819.htmlNOT very portable. Does Hobart still make a little TIG welder anymore ?Last edited by albrightree; 3 Weeks Ago at 08:40 AM.Airco 250 ac/dc Heliwelder Square waveMiller Synchrowave 180 sdMiller Econo Twin HFLincoln 210 MPDayton 225 ac/dcVictor torchesSnap-On YA-212Lotos Cut60D
Reply:I would get a Primeweld 225 over a Lincoln SW200 any day of the week.  The Lincoln is more than double the cost, has less power and less features.  HTP makes a great welder, but they are on the pricey side and right now appear to be mostly unavailable.Check out my bench vise website:  http://mivise.comMiller Syncrowave 250DXMillermatic 350P with XR AlumaProMiller Regency 200 with 22A feeder and Spoolmatic 3Hobart Champion EliteEverlast PowerTig 210EXT
Reply:Any good places to look at some reviews of the Primeweld?  It’s looking good so far.
Reply:The primeweld site has plenty of reviews. Also quite a few on YouTube. AHP may be another machine to consider but from what I have heard customer service is nothing like the customer service from primeweld.
Reply:I looked at the reviews on the Primeweld sight.  The ones I’ve read sound very positive, I was just wondering if there was any bias being on the sight.   The customer service sounds amazing though. That goes along way with me anymore. Thanks everyone.
Reply:Also, what’s the weight on the Primeweld? Says 90# on Amazon. Hopefully it’s not that heavy.

Reply:I assumed that to be the shipping weight.  50# isn’t bad at all.    I also saw the reviews. 4.9 from 700 is pretty convincing, I will agree.

Reply:Originally Posted by M J DPersonally I wouldn't buy any AHP or Everlast product but I figured I would throw the AHP option out there. At the current price the primeweld is still in my opinion the best ACDC Tig machine out there for the $$. AHP has a 225 amp machine now but I've seen nowhere near the positive reviews on it like I have the primeweld. I was originally going to get a AHP machine( 2-1/2 years ago) but once I found out more about the primeweld I went that route. I paid 700$ for mine then so 125$ increase isn't that bad and the present machines have the plug in for the cooler.
Reply:Really liking the Primeweld. There’s a lot there for the money. Couple of DOA scattered across the web, but it does seem as though CS took care of it pretty quick.   Where’s the bad?😁. Thanks.
Reply:Having used both the SW200 and Primeweld, I'd go with the Primeweld 10 out of 10 times. There is no bad for 3 years of ownership, Dustin and the crew will take care of any issue you have immediately.
Reply:Sounds like it’s definitely going to be worth a shot. Especially for the money. Time to sell something. 😁. Thanks to everyone.
