My Mueller building is finished. Standard size of 30x40x12 foot tall. It is insulated and has some insulation behind some plastic. I want to weld and cut and grind, so I was afraid of sparks melting my plastic lined insulation. Does anyone have a suggestion on the cheapest metal siding available to attach to the purlins on the walls to protect my insulation? When I search, all I see are pretty and expensive sidings for a barndominium. I want ugly and cheap for a shop. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Reply:"CHEAP" is gonna be VERY location sensitive. When I built my building, I ended up getting "drops" from a local siding company. He sold me 42" X 4 FEET pieces of roofing that I used for ceiling inside my building,,, for,, wait for it,, $0.50 each!! I bought so many, the pallet set my truck down on the helper springs so hard, I was afraid to drive over 40MPH!!50 cents a sheet was good money, scrap is only 10 cents a sheet.Check locally, many roofing/siding companies have "drops" from previous jobs. All they can sell them for is scrap price which is less than 10 cents a sheet,,, (a penny a pound) those small pieces do not weigh much.OH, and add your location, someone near by you may know of such a siding/roofing company.
Reply:Used is another option.  Had hail storms come through this spring and seems like everybody has used steel to sell after their insurance company replaced their roofs.  Most of it priced like we are still in the middle of covid.  Some are coming down in price since it is not selling.  A few finding out the market is flooded with used roofing and don't want to keep it around so are happy to have it hauled away for free.Century buzzbox that I learned on 40+ years ago (was Dad's)Crappy Century 110volt mig 70 amp pigeon pooper.Lincoln Idealarc TIG-300
Reply:I ran 1/2” plywood lengthwise with Sheetrock above that. I have been very pleased with that for over 10 years. I started in one corner and ran a few pieces each week until I finished. I ran 1x4 as baseboard. All screwed so if I need to get into a wall for new outlet or something, I can quickly remove and put back.Burt _____________________Miller Syncrowave 250Millermatic 211Miller 375 Plasma Cutter Hobart Handler 120www.10FtDrillBit.comwww.MyWelds.com - pictures of my work
