hello all, this is my first post so hope i formatted this correctly. i currently own a 2009 Dodge ram 1500(purchased in beginning of 2022). It is a michigan truck so needless to say im sure its seen its fair share of winters and it is definitely evident. the frame has already started to rust fairly bad towards rear around torque arm mounts on both sides of truck. I was wondering the most efficient way of repairing this. Is butt welding patch/fish plate over repair area a good idea for this, or is it better to shove plate inside frame and weld from frame to new plate, and fishplate over that section? I have also considered using square tube to shove inside of frame and welding to that. ive seen many videos of people cutting out rust section and just welding a plate over section to existing good metal on frame but im not sure how good of a repair that really is. i do have a decent amount of mig welding/fabricating experience so i am not worried about getting good welds, mostly about the proper way to reinforce this area, any advice is greatly appreciated!
