magnum 100l wiring

I have a lincoln magnum 100l that the wires have been clipped. They are white with some indiscernible writing, but look identical. I bought a new plug end. Does it matter which wire goes to which pin? Would it hurt to "test" and just connect them one way and if it didn't work, switch them? Just to see if it would feed. Would it hurt anything if connected incorrectly?
