I'm a toolaholic. For years I've been buying tools if its a good deal. So I have way to many welders for a guy that doesn't weld for a living. Im starting to downsize. Im keeping the 2 Trailblazers with suitcases. The rest of everything is going to be sold. Im hoping to generate enough cash to to buy a Miller multimatic. I don't need a 255 amp machine with pulsed mig. Im thinking multimatic 235 because I can get the dual running gear and leave it setup for Tig and Mig. I do understand that there is no such thing as a 1 sizes fits all machine. It wont be great at everything, but OK at all its designed to do. I'm a little more that a weekend worrier at this point. I will do some light fab work for my own needs. Im sure the machine will outweld my capabilities.Does anyone have any recommendations or reasons to step up to the 255? I havent seen much reviews of these yet.

Reply:Dual shield is made for a specific gas. I've found it made for 75/25 & 85/15. In my experience, wrong gas means failure. I haven't yet become proficient, but might pulse spray mode replace dual shield sometimes?I believe Dual shield is going to be superior in vertical up welds. Fast freeze slag forms & prevents drool of filler. What is the objection to two tanks? An optimist is usually wrong, and when the unexpected happens is unprepared. A pessimist is usually right, when wrong, is delighted, and well prepared.
