Was doing some practice welds with my MM215 earlier today.   Did some stick with 6013, 6011 & 7018.  Then switched over to some flux core, and really had some fine beads.   Decided to go back and do some more work with stick, and my MM215 started throwing an error code:Stuck electrode- free tungsten to clear errorI was not even using the thing in TIG mode!   I only did stick on DCEP, and switched to Flux Core mode on DCEN, and nothing else!   No matter what I tried, the error code persisted.   Went thru the troubleshooting section of the manual, no joy!   Called Miller technical support, and the guy walked me thru a few steps….no joy.   He says it is something internal, so he gave me the number of the closest servicing dealer [about 40 miles away] so I called them, and they are backed up, and I had to put my name and number in so they can call me back to bring the unit in, because they have absolutely no space for anything else in the repair shop until they can get some out the door!

Any of you have any suggestions?   I even took the 240V plug off, and tried the 120V, to see if it might reset itself…no luck!   I got the TIG kit last week, but have not used it yet, as I have no argon gas.   I’d love to hear suggestions, if you have any.

Reply:PLug in the TIG kit to perhaps test it and maybe that will help clear the error?  Might get more luck in the Miller subforum here.

Reply:You can use TIG with whatever gas you have for testing purposesAlso, try factory rest if you haven't tried already.

Reply:Call Miller and ask them for the next 2 or 3 closest servicing dealers.

Reply:Both Lynchburg and Roanoke have servicing dealers - Arc 3.   We have an Arc3 dealer here, but does not service.  Gonna go by there tomorrow, and see if they can get my unit serviced in Lynchburg more quickly.Miller Multimatic 215Spoolmatic 150 spool gun, Miller TIG kitPrimeweld Cut 60 Plasma CutterVevor Pipe StandsBauer Portaband/Swag tableGrinders-Milwaukee, Porter Cable, DewaltArcUnion M-20 portable rod oven
