Does anyone know of a paint that is a good color match for Miller Blue?
Reply:There isn't an exact match unless you go to an auto paint store and have it mixed up..or buy the real Miller paint.

Miller paint is very pricey. The closest I came up after taking half a dozen blues and checking them under high powered tungsten lamps, was Rustoleum's Safety Blue. That is what I painted my Bobus with. It needs a little more green in it to match the Miller stuff, but it looks fine, IMO.

I knew someone would say something like that..so I have proof of what I say. Here are the pics of the samples against a MM135.Left to right, Rusto Sail Blue #7724 ....Rusto Gloss Blue #1926.....Rusto Safety Blue # V-2124...and under the high intensity lamps, that one on the right won out. It was close without the lights, but under the tung lamps, the Sail was too blue.I made my choice...you decide what is best for you.

Reply:Anyone have the paint  code/color for older Miller welders which were darker blue?Don,  have you compared the color outside using day light?  Just curious if that makes a difference? Thanks,CharlesMillermatic Passport PlusMillermatic 200Millermatic 350P with PythonXMT 304 /w S-64 feeder and 12RCDynasty 300 DXVictor O/APremier Power Welder for my trail junk.
Reply:Not per se, Charles. I have had two machunes sude by sude. I still say the Safety Blue needs a tad more green in it. Here is a sorta side by side pic from when I brought home my MM210. The Bobus looks very close. Never ever thought to get a real side by side...I was too happy to be getting a MM210 to be thinking about the Bobus that day.

Reply:I spose so. It was close enough without spending big bucks on the Miller paint or having some made up. It didn't hold up as well as I would have liked in the sun, though. Maybe a UV resistant clear coat would have helped that. It did fade a bit on top. Not that badly, but enough to notice if you looked for it.

Reply:Match the color? Just paint it orange, it will run better. Are you restoring one, or just re painting. If restoring it please post pics.
Reply:No restoration.  I'm building a tool & cable tray to sit on top of my Dialarc and wanted to match the color to the welder.  I will post the finished project.
Reply:Thanks for the info.  Checked with a local auto paint supplier, the DuPont color matched paint was way too expensive.  I picked up a qt. of Rusto Safety Blue and tested it.  Looks good to me.
Reply:Ford blue is also a close match.
Reply:If I cant find the right blue... I would use deeper blue... or follow the one with the orange colour bet it turn out cute...Unit in my fab shop dept:my good hand and team that trust me...

Reply:just purchased a gallon of gloss Ford Blue at Atwoods for $29 gallon vs $90 gallon for a custom mix at say Oriellys. very please with Van Sickle tractor paints used so far... we'll see how my Miller Wildcat 350G looks afterwords.  it should look like newer Miller blue vs older dark blue

I've used the Sail blue, near about the same,  but haven't seen the safety blue around here.   Both look real nice to the average Joe.

Reply:It's a work in progress, but with all due respect to 7A749's finishwork standards, I figure, this one is better than it was. And, it will not continue to rust away. I still have to get a better flow meter/ regulator and a full sized bottle which I consider more important right now. Anyhow, cut to the chase, before and after pics from raw condition in truck, to primer, to Rustoleum Safety Blue (I just shot the paint today after reading through this thread). Note the door side, the lower panel is still the original color and only has some slight surface rust along the edge. I mean gee whiz, look at my poor truck box. No comparison!

Reply:Here is my Bobcat I did last year.  I used rattle Rusto Sail Blue rattle can.  I'm happy with the color since it's pretty close but I think the Rustolem is still soft a year later.

Reply:While out picking up that suitcase feeder I stopped at the neighboring town's Lowes and got that can of the Rustoleum safety blue. Only problem I have now is too many projects going on at one time....

Reply:Hello folks

I'm new to the forum, and new to welding...merely a hobby at this point as I'm recently retired.  Just picked up a used Millermatic 211.  Checked with Miller and my serial # was manufactured in March 2010.  It's condition is very good...paint looks super other than a couple of minor scuffs on cabinet, and most importantly works perfectly!  A close friend is a professional welding "craftsman", and put the 211 through the paces...gave it a thumb up!  It came with homebrew welding cart that needs work.  Also came with an 80 gal tank roughly 2/3rds full of argon/co2, half a spool of .030 steel wire, and about 20 spare tips.  My first project is to clean up and "soup up" the rough rudimentary cart that it came with.  Adding some bells and whistles (upgraded handle, hose hooks, mount for tank) while putting my practice beads into play.  I'm still putting some final touches on the cart, and getting close to paint.  So off to my local home center this evening, and brought back both a can of Sail Blue and Safety Blue Rustoleum rattlers.  Put the lids of both cans on top of the 211 case...both were very close, but neither was a perfect match.  But through my eyes the Safety Blue gets my vote for the "closest" match. Thanks for all the helpful insight on this board, as I had no idea where to start to match the paint until I found this thread!

All the best,Mike...The Griz

Reply:In my day (I can't believe I said that!) but my first car was a 1970 Mustang Mach I. It was painted Ford "Grabber Blue". I'm not certain if this is the Ford Blue but I think it's pretty close to Miller. Just a thought.

Reply:Yeah, it was something all right. Back in the day when good grades and "comportment" in high school and working your butt off after school and during college before the Corp were the only things your parents wanted... and you got rewarded for. But you could just as easily be hoofin' it or back on a bike six weeks later when the next report card came out. I don't even know if they have those anymore.
Reply:What I REALLY wanted. Again, in Miller Blue!!!

Reply:Do you know Ral or Powder coat color match?
