I am in the process of rebuilding a welder right now. I called the local welding store today about the miller blue spray paint and he told me not to buy it because it was priced so high. My question is, should I go ahead and buy it, or should I just try to get it matched at a automotive store. Has anyone tried any standard colors of rustoleum that match pretty close? Thanks in advance, Nick.
Reply:I'd take a panel to an automotive paint store that offers color matching. If you don't have spray equipment most paint stores that do color matching can put it spray cans for you, usually a 3 can minimum.
Reply:Hey thanks tresi I think that is what im going to do, Problems is the paint on the welder im redoing is faded or gone. So i guess I will have to take a panel off my new Miller 210

Reply:I just used Rusto's Safety Blue on my Bobus when I rebuilt it. Worked great for a fraction of the cost. See what you think.

Reply:I know it nice to have the original color on your welder, but it doesn't mean that much. Paint it something different. Do a custom job and make it unique. Everything desn't need to be miller blue to be good.

Miller DVI2Lincoln Precision Tig 225Thermodynamics Cutmaster 38Everything else needed.
Reply:Wow, that paint looks great. I cant even tell a difference. I think I might try looking into that. Thanks for all the replies.
Reply:Thanks, I was quite pleased as to how it turned out. When I did mine, I tried out several different paints. I painted several pieces and then took pics under high intensity lights. The Safety Blue came out the closest of all of them. They are all close, Sail Blue was next in closeness I believe. There were subtle differences, but Safety won the race. To match the Miller, it would need a little more green, IMO....but you can't really tell unless they are side by side.Jam, Blue is Bluetiful.

Reply:Just to show the contrast, here is how it started out.

FWIW, I wish I had clear coated it. After 2 years exposed, it was starting to fade a little on the very top. If I had used a UV resistant clear coat, I'm sure it would have helped. But, since it is out of service anyway, I don't suppose it matters anymore.

Reply:Thank you, senor.

I was very happy with it...until it croaked, that is.

I still can't seem to part with it. I need to fire it up and run it some. I also need to test the repairs more to be sure. I probably should sell it, but I figure it makes a good backup anyway. Paid for at least.

Reply:Ford tractor blue.
Reply:Anybody know an RAL match or Powder Coat Color for Miller Blue?
