(I hope this is in the right place, maybe it should be in the Equipment & Gear section)My 201XD's hose started leaking, so I figured I might as well upgrade the torch while I'm at it. The CK TL210 Trim-Line was recommended. I ordered the CK TL2112HSF FX.The AlphaTIG 201XD has Dinse connectors labeled "EU35~70". I take this to mean that it's a Dinse 1/2" 35 connector. The gas connector is quick release.

Initially, I thought I could just replace the hose and torch, but after disassembling the AlphaTIG Dinse connector, it appears to be crimped on rather than threaded (the electrical is just an attempt to seal the leak):

I believe that I need a CK SL5-35QD "SafeLoc Male Dinse 35" connector. Can anyone confirm this for me?

Reply:The CK has a threaded female connection, so yours will likely not be adaptable. It appears the stock cable assembly avoids the brass nipple and threaded holding nut to save $$$.

Reply:My bad, somehow I overlooked the part where you actually ordered the new TIG torch, lol. Yes, that part number looks to be correct.

Reply:Thanks. The TL210 torch arrived today and it included a brochure. That made me realize that the SL5-35QD is the same as the SL5-35 plus the QDGAP quick-disconnect adapter.

SL5-35 is listed for the TL210, while the SL2-35 is listed for type 17 torches. So it looks like it has to be the SL5-35QD. I'm guessing that the type 17 torches use a smaller hose and cable. Sure wish all this stuff was spelled out in the specifications! Hopefully this will help some other clueless person in the future...Last edited by gummycarbs; 2 Hours Ago at 12:59 AM. |
