Anyone got any comments on a Miller Maxstar 150s. This is the straight stick model, no scratch start just stick.....Mike
Reply:I have one its a nice little set up i got mine about 2 years ago and has made things easy. It will burn 1/8 7018 rod all dayIf your gonna be STUPID you gotta be TOUGH
Reply:No problem with the amount of power? Is it running wide open burning a 1/8 7018 or is there still a bit left should you want to run it a bit hot?.....Mike
Reply:I got the scratch start tig/ stick model. It has more than paid for itself. As a stick welder, makes a great pipe welding machine when welding to ASME codes using around 100 amps or less. Would recommend having it plugged into 220/230v outlets as you can weld at 100 amps at 100%, if I recall correctly (don't have the manual in front of me). Weld characteristics are OK with stick. Don't expect a pure DC-like arc like the SA 200, but for a small machine you can throw over your shoulder and put in a day's work, the maxstar 150 is a decent machine -- I recommend them.

Reply:There is another thread in the Miller forum where someone complained about it not being able to run 6010 rods too successfully. You may want to check it out, I think its under this:http://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=36598. Post #12 if I remember correctly. Good luck! You may want to check out the complete thread though.A few of my toys !LinuxMintManjaroMiller Roughneck 2E Lincoln WeldPak 100HTP MTS 160 Chicago Electric 80amp Inverter Victor O/A
Reply:Thanks guys for the replys. I'm not too concerned re the 6010 as I don't intend to do any pipe work just something so I can get DC and burn 6011, 7018, I've still got the buzzboz for 7024's.I'm going to get ahold of the guy and see if I can have a look at it on Saturday.....Mike
Reply:I love mine for general farm equipment/confinement repair. I can carry the welder and any supplies I may need all in one trip to the truck. It's paid for itself many times over and I haven't had it very long.My name's not Jim....
Reply:S.O.L., he sold it yesterday

Reply:Hello all,Please help.Miller Maxstar 150 stick. 120V set 75Amp use 6013. Used it a year ago, everything is fine, put to store, now bring out to start. It sparks and BLUE Led star flashing and no longer respond. Reset by turn off and on again, the Led stable, but when I stick in the metal with the ground then Blue led start flashing and no weld.
