Im helping a buddy work on his Miller 225g plus KE is the first two of the serial so I believe it is a 94ish model? Anyways the other day we were welding and it just quit making an arc, it throws sparks but will not arc, so far we have tested several things and finally today just shotgunned parts at it and its still doing the same thing, we get 36ish amps dc to the leads with the Freon stat turned up, and was only reading 10v ac on the plugs. The slip rings show 4 ohms between the two, all circuit breakers and plugs show continuity. The f1 fuse was blown the first day we started working on it, after the second day we replaced the bridge rectifier fired it up and both fuses blew, replaced the fuses today, the capacitor, the rheostat and just good measure the bridge rectifier again, and now f1 is blown again, I tested the ohms across the ac terminals on the bridge rectifier and its showing 9.8 ohms and the trouble shooting guide shows it should be >1. The loop shows to go to the excitation? I am completely lost on what that is or what it does. Can someone help please? |
