My Lincoln SP-135T MIG came with .025" wire which I use a lot on sheet metal. It has a Magnum 100L gun that takes S19726-1 contact tips. I know that is an old number and I think the KP11-25 [KP2039-1B1] are the new numbers. They are not that easy to find. What I do find are the Lincoln Tweco style tips KH710. One site says they replace the KP11-25 tips. Is that correct? Or do I need to stay with the KP11-25 tips?Last edited by Oldslowandugly; 2 Weeks Ago at 10:07 PM.
Reply:ANY 11-23 tip will fit and work. Lincoln like to make people believe that their parts are special and in this case they are not.
Reply:right, can even get them at home depot
Reply:Thanks! So what is "Tweco"? A brand and a style? I read that it was a company that produced the top grade welding products. But even though the company was acquired it is still a brand name. So all the contact tips available are the Tweco "style" but the actual Tweco brand is still available? And Tweco "style" tips are what are produced by Lincoln, Miller, etc as their own brand but are all based on the original Tweco design? This is very confusing. Especially when a manufacturer lists their brand and a Tweco as options.
Reply:Tweco(Townsend Welding Equipment Company) made some of the very first MIG guns. As other companies used their guns the consumables became the common standard. For a long time Lincoln guns used Tweco consumables even though the guns were made by Lincoln. Can you buy Tweco brand consumables, yes. Are they different enough to use them over all the other similar Chicom parts, I don't see the value.
Reply:So it is a brand that became the industry standard. Got it. Thanks!!! |
