Hi,I use a portable bandsaw a lot, mostly for cutting ½ gas barrel and 3mm plate. I use Milwaukee blades at present 24tpi but they just dont seem to last. They either break at the weld or start cracking along their length and eventually give up! The machine is a Milwaukee and takes 44-⅞ blades.Any alternatives greatly appreciated..Tia
Reply:That is a problem with all blades. The wider the blade is less of problem.I have found less tension less breakage Dave

Reply:I never break portaband blades unless binding or other operator error. Seam breakage is unusual. I usually use Morse , Lenox or Milwaukee. I prefer coarse blades 10/14 bimetal for hand cutting. Finer blades are too slow for me. Breaking at the weld is a blade defect. They may be warranties.

Reply:Thanks, I have just discovered a fairly local company that with custom make me some and I have opted for bimetal variable pitch. I’ll see how they go against the Milwaukee..
