I have some bronze railings to do soon, can I use silicon bronze rod to weld bronze? Or should I be looking for a different alloy?I want the color to be close to the bronze if I can help it., because I have to weld some Lambs tongues to the Cap rail Sent from my fab shop using a mig welder and a grinder

Reply:Congrat. Look forward to hearing how it goes. I have never built bronze railing. I’ve done repairs and modifications, though. Many years ago, a client was building a house he had collected ironwork from all around the world. Hired me to put the hodgepodge work together. It was old and quality hand forged ironwork. He had 5 painted section of fencing solid pockets 1” sq pickets , half inch x 2 inch rail. He wanted it sandblasted. It was 90 percent bronze with the 10 percent replacement steel that matched perfectly. Weighed about 300 Lbs per panel.
