Yes, it this for use as welding rod, or something else like wire sculpturing?

Reply:If you are going to try to TIG 0.035" wall anything with 1/16" filler, you're in for a rude awakening. More like 0.030"  ER70S-2.  Can be bought by the pound from weldingsupply.com.

1st on WeldingWeb to have a scrolling sig!

Reply:Pannier racks?
Reply:The info I found it is a rod for torch work made in Italy 🇮🇹On Amazon it shows for Tig Welding tooDave

Reply:FYI About this itemRG-65 copper free rod used for high speed fusion welding of pressure vessels, tanks and pipe, All position weldingNew proprietary copper free finish for long shelf life and lower fume emission, Cut lengths made from high quality steelAWS grade and size are embossed on both ends for full traceabilityMade in Italy from the finest quality materials using state of the art technology under highly respected labor conditions
Reply:It looks like RG60 and RG45 or ER70S-6 or ER70S-2 Mig/Tig rod have been used if you can't find O/A rods. ER70S-3 Mig wire has also been used. Yes, you probably want smaller than 1/16" rods. Some (Tig) rods come in .045". Don't know where you're located but see if there is a specialized welding supplier or have the local welding supply contact Techalloy (a division of Lincoln). They have many specialized rods and excellent customer service when I've talked to them in the past. They even found the Certs. for electrodes that were several years old which saved some critical welding, in petrochemical facility, from having to be redone because they couldn't provide the certs.(MTR's). Saballoy below specializes in finding and providing specialty rods. They could likely help you source the rods or suggest who else might be able to. http://www.saballoy.com/Last edited by Welder Dave; 1 Week Ago at 01:59 AM.

Reply:Both have their shortcomings. Steel changes shape after it is welded. You heat steel to weld it, it is mostly relaxed when part of a piece is welded. The weld filler, as a near liquid takes whatever shape it wants. As it cools, the not molten steel shrinks, & the weld filler solidifies & it too shrinks. A lot of tension builds up pulling against the portion that never was hot, therefore expanded. Very rigid pieces, the new weld is forced to stretch to conform with the shape it wants to be. Thinner weldments distort from the tension. The less heat the weld process puts into the steel, the less distortion. I prefer acetylene/oxygen welding over TIG, but rarely use it anymore because of increased distortion. In either process, you have to use hammer & dolly to expand the heat affected zone back to size.I believe TIG filler will work well with flame welding. It has been decades since I bought RG, & the memory banks are vague. I believe I used RG45 for all body work. Not sure I've ever heard of RG65.An optimist is usually wrong, and when the unexpected happens is unprepared. A pessimist is usually right, when wrong, is delighted, and well prepared.
Reply:Everyone has learning on posting 📫. The rod is a odd type for most here My in town  suppliers do not have that rod . They stock mostly cut rods E70S-6. Dave
