So, sheetmetal edge trim? What should I buy?I'm making a bracket to hold up the cold air intake tube on my truck. I'm using 14 gauge steel. Basically, it's just a steel plate that comes straight up with a U cut in it to hold the cold air intake up so the filter doesn't rub anywhere.Whatever trim I buy needs to be able to take a bend. The pipe is 4" OD, so I'm going to cut the U 4" plus maybe 1/4" to accommodate the edge trim. What do y'all suggest? I'm not going to slit a hose and use that. Functional, but doesn't look good. I thought about thermoforming some PEX, but all I have is red, blue, and white. The red doesn't match my truck (too bright), the blue doesn't match anything in the engine bay, and white would just look dumb. Yes, this actually matters to me.

I might just make a sort of steel flange and weld that on then put foam tape on it... edge trim is easier. Sent from my Lincoln Buzzbox using Tapatalk
Reply:Get some door edge trim from an automotive store, you can get chrome & translucent/clear & plastic paint it, another option may be saw blade tooth protector, like from a band saw blade, this may not be the best option on 14 gauge, but I may have some laying around. Another option might be split loom for wiring(convoluted tubing), available in a variety of colors and sizes, black is plentiful, but I've seen red, white and blue, 3/8 or 1/2 would likely be ideal.NRA LIFE MEMBERUNITWELD 175 AMP 3 IN1 DCMIDSTATES 300 AMP AC MACHINELET'S GO BRANDON!"Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety. Reply:Would something like this work? I know it says discontinued on the 1st link but another supplier could have something similar. Maybe a (head) light grommet could be found at Napa or an industrial supply. https://www.fastenal.com/product/details/5100315https://www.delcity.net/store/4-Inch...97998.h_797999https://www.amazon.ca/Grand-General-...034129286&th=1Last edited by Welder Dave; 3 Days Ago at 03:26 PM.

Reply:make it easy on yourself. if you go that route cut the 5/8" strip out of 10 ga or heavier. use the 4" pipe for forming the semi circle. WAY easier to weld too:
