Are the rods themselves the same, just known by different names? Couldn't find out with a search. I have chamfer rods, pretty fun to use. Very helpful sometimes.
Reply:Completely different. Chamfer rod is more like a flux coated electrode like a 6011. Carbons for air arc gouging are generally ( but not always) copper coated graphite.
Reply:So would I use those carbons if I was going to make a carbon arc torch?
Reply:Carbon arc for heating or a carbon air arc torch for gouging? The copper coated carbons I mentioned are for gouging. Not sure if they work in a carbon arc torch for heating, never used one, no intention too.
Reply:I don't need to bend stuff a lot and don't have an oxy acetylene setup. Carbon arc torch is a cheap way to take care of my occasional bending need. |
