Hi everyone, just got myself a nice chop saw with a tungsten-tipped blade. I knew it would yield coarser shavings than other options, but had an aha/uh-oh moment when I saw them sprayed all over the table & floor in my garage. Most went into the little reservoir they have for them but, as is inevitable, plenty got scattered around. Looks like theres a port for a vacuum but I cant imagine its a good idea to attach my shop vac to it. Theres a lot less sparking than with a abrasive disc but there are still sparks. Trying to minimize sweeping and vacuuming after use. I was thinking of getting some magnets and sticking them in a few strategic places, though Im not sure how effective that would be. Ive also considered some kind of foil shroud. . .Anybody have other ideas?
Reply:Build a saw saw station over a barrel. I use a a rolling/ sweeping magnet and a shop vacuum with a dust collector connected to sweep the floor. Nothing gets to the shop vac.
Reply:This is one of the best little gadgets I ever picked up from Harbor freight. It's a rolling magnet/stickI use it all the time. Just wheel it around and it's amazing what you will pick up.

Reply:You could pick up one of the cyclone tops, put it on a metal container and run the vacuum thru that. The hot heavy chips fall into the cyclone container and don't go into the vacuum. Still have to be careful with the hoses though.
Reply:This is a fabricators biggest mystery. Tool Junkie has a great suggestion.
