Pumping from a custom diesel tank

I'm building a custom bed tank for my 17' colorado diesel and I was wondering how you draw from the new tank. I want to mount the motor on top run a hose or tube inside for the fuel draw. What kind of fitting/combo would you suggest? I already purchased a 12v pump that has 1/8" NPT female fittings. I also purchased a level sensor that will mount on top and has a float, so I had to buy an aluminum 1 1/2" NPT weld-on bung. The electronics are from Titan tanks and has a cool push-button module that you mount in the cab. When you push the button, it runs the pump for 5 gallons of fuel into your tank via the vent return line (I'll have to T into it, along with a vent return line back to the new tank).  On a side note, I picked up a 4' x 8' x .125" sheet of aluminum from Pacific Metals in Tualatin, OR for $126 ($2.25 a lb.). They have a scratched pile you can choose from, so one side is a little ugly.  I'll post some pictures once I'm a little farther along. On another side note; I bought a 500 gallon tank($275), washed it out, welded a new 2" bung on top(2" coupler cut in half($12)), 1" on the bottom(broke the existing pipe off accidently(free)), built a stand strong enough for a 10,000 gallon tank(free), bought a pump($450) and an inline filter($55). And.. 518 gallons of diesel for $3,064.40 $5.91/gallon.  I hope all of this is worth it since I'm expecting diesel to double in price by this winter. I put 25,000 miles a year on my truck. I'm tempted to buy another 500 gallon tank.Common sense in an uncommon degree is what the world calls wisdom.
Reply:I recall a kit from Northern Tool (?) that teed into the filler hose and allowed gravity flow with a dummy (non vented)fuel cap. You filled up your slip tank and then went by the fuel gauge when the slip tank ran dry. No pump, no fuss.
