Hi new on here , looking for help have a chewed manifold nut looking to get it red hot but don't have oxy burning gear , came across Carbon arc rods ? Wondering can you attach 1 to the earth ,1 to the electrode side and basically put it to either side of the nut at about 70 amps ? Will it short and heat the nut up ? Or am I way off track ? Thanks
Reply:I don’t know if 70 amps is sufficient but carbon electrodes can definitely be used to get that nut glowing ,either as you described or with a carbon arc flame.Miller a/c-d/c Thunderbolt XLMillermatic 180 Purox O/ASmith Littletorch O/AHobart Champion Elite

Reply:Try welding a nut on top that should heat it upRetired Old GuyHobart 210Lincoln AC/DC 225/125 Evolution 14” Saw
