I recently acquired a Harris model 16 torch handle with a 16GA adaper, also known as Lincoln part# 4391600. It came with a #4 soft flame tip too. My issue is when I try to light it theres a backflash right where the tip threads into the adapter. I looked at the o-ring, it looks brand new. I cleaned the adapter out with brake clean, just a little dirty nothing alarming. The radius on the sealing surface of the tip looks/feells smooth, no nicks. I dont understand why it backflashes. My understanding is this adapter & tips are used to braze/solder copper pipe. Its kinda hard to find info about the 16GA adapter. Thanks for any input.
Reply:I'm not so familiar with what a 16 gauge adapter looks like, but if you are sure the seals and mating surfaces are in good shape, could your tip be on the torch too loosely?SRA & IWW memberCentury 250 amp AC/DCCentury 295 amp ACCentury High Frequency Box |
