I purchased a XMT304 and the power is really low...not enough amps to weld 1/8" 7018. I can weld .045 wire enough to weld 3/16 thickness but no more. When I turn it up it won't get any hotter but the digital amp and voltage will go up and show up to 400amp. I also have no trouble codes. I have also not heard the fan kick on at all. What should do to troubleshoot her?
Reply:Looks like great welder. It probably a programming. Dave

Reply:Fan won't come on until it gets hot and that takes awhile. Is your input voltage OK? Not sure if the XMT 304's have automatic line voltage connection like newer machines have? That would be worth checking out. If you just bought it, there's also the chance it was sold because of this problem.
