Hi, I have a tig welder and the HF isn't working. There is a resistor blown on the pcb. I was wondering if anyone could help me either fix it or source a new pcb? It's a giant tig200p Ac/Dc.Thanks

Reply:There are lots of things on PCB's that can be fixed if you can find what specifically is blown and you can find schematics detailed enough to actually follow (in repair manuals for electronics there are, lots of times, theories of operation that describe specific circuit functions and orders of operations that can be infinitely helpful when paired with the schematics of said circuits). With that combined information you can do point checks on the circuits to check for resistances and voltages. If you have a logic chip, eeprom, etc that is being used to initiate and conduct a control signal to a driver that amplifies it then you can check low level power to those devices and see if they are getting the power they need. If they are - is there any output from them? If you find where the issue is - those bad components can be replaced on the boards. However, very few manufacturers of electronics have a repair facility with people trained in how to do those types of circuit diagnostics, let alone the repairs. They may have re-work stations for quality issues in manufacturing, but repairs after-the-fact? Its usually cheaper to swap a PCB than have a crew on-staff that knows how to diagnose circuits and repair them. And the documentation (service manuals for said electronics) that is very helpful in diagnosing possible issues can be very difficult to obtain, and I dare say that lots of places don't even have that documentation - because they don't need it for people they don't have to do the repairs they don't do - so why would it be available for the end-user? Frustrating, I know. However, if you dig and can find the information or you can study the circuit you have enough to get some comfort with it - or you don't really have much to loose in a board that already doesn't work - have at it.
Reply:Did you try calling Giant for customer support? It must be under warranty, right?Miller Multimatic 255

Reply:Where are you located, it will help us give you better answers.Quick google search shows other people looking for schematics, and parts, going back to 2017. It didn't come up with many answers either. You might be better of buying a new one for $350.good luck
