After a week of sitting the battery is at 9v,Alternator while running 14.3vBattery after couple hours of use 12vHave a draw somewhere? Ideas please, and thanks.
Reply:Disconnect cable and check after sitting a few days, if it's low then it would be a dead cell .
Reply:re "Sa200 battery draw", if you think any/too much current is 'escaping' when the unit is turned off, disconnect one battery cable and connect a VOM/ammeter (with a milliamp lower setting) between the cable and battery when off. Begin using the higher range and work downwards until the meter registers some current flow, or shows none occurring.
Reply:My Miller 251D does the same thing. I never tracked it down, so I just disconnect the battery when not using it. PITA but at least I can start it back up when I need to!
Reply:It's not so much a problem as it used to be, but is the battery dirty as in having an electrolyte trail to ground, if so it can drain a battery like you describe. You can check by using a voltmeter touching the positive lead to the leaking electrolyte and the negative to ground.NRA LIFE MEMBERUNITWELD 175 AMP 3 IN1 DCMIDSTATES 300 AMP AC MACHINELET'S GO BRANDON!"Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.
