Do you know what's the general rule on changing up from 0.8 to 1mm MIG wire, the machine runs up to 200 amps, is it dictated purely by the amperage or material thickness.

Reply:I think you are better off running the larger diameter wire because it has greater current carrying capacity. Where the cut off point is, I couldn't tell you. It probably doesn't make a bit of difference on a 200 amp machine. The door chart on my Multimatic 255 seems to indicate it makes a difference above 225 amps or so.Miller Multimatic 255
