One thing I have learned from the internet that people used to tell me is,,,, I really dont know squat. There are some fine minds on forums, there are some that are brilliant up to the eye and the rest clogged with shate. So someone asked recently why I didnt answer aluminum,,, tungsten and gas questions,,, or electronics for that matter and the truth is,,,,,, I dont know anything about it. All those numbers sound like phone numbers I used to have to remember. My expertise if I have to check a box is in steel, bought the book, read thru it, cant remember but a few basics I heard at an intro lecture about is all I remember, if its thick or cold heat it, carbon makes it hard and brittle, etc stuff like that. When I came to the forums it was about that, had been studying code on one by racing to the questions. I was tiring of it and looked at AG and didnt understand it so much and the Franz grabbed me u8p dragging over to Hobart which was a monster at the time. He was right, it was a better fit. On to other matters. I was sorting out some rods. Going thru the 1-# that are mixes and found a couple 6010 and set them aside. I been having sticky problems with the 6011 I have and figured it was old, had different problems, figure maybe a connector or something and for some reason I thought I may have liked them better,,, but when I stick the old 10 in the DC buzzer next to the 11,, wow what a difference.www.urkafarms.com
Reply:We had a noob here a while back talking about the 11 snuffing out and wasnt sure why but it might be the rod. We use wire mostly but I recently took to using some sticks as I really need to brush up for field work and as I start to sharpen up now figuring out might not just be me. When I got a Maxstar I switched over and use was so sporadic and general I never really run enough to be on the top of it. Shame is, one bud give me 10# a while back and another just brought me 50 and I was getting my mind around really using some up but they sputter some. Turning up a pinch helped a little but its something to do with the rod. Does it seem to grind hard for some reason? I was flushing off and it really seemed tuff.www.urkafarms.com

Reply:I never really thought to try 10 on mine. Yes, the couple sticks of 10 I had were noticeable, wet out, flatten it some too. It really became obvious when I chucked one in next to each other.www.urkafarms.com

Reply:I have a ESAB 161, it runs 6010. But not like my PP400 with a Cat !It seemed like a good idea at the time!

Reply:Interesting. Was listening to a lady in the radio talk about language and delivery and how folk interpret what is said. The statement makes sense to me and is equivalent to your initial follow up, except you only consider cheap/import machines. However, I do see how it could be reworded. Not really a big deal. Unless you buy a esab 150, a miller 150, miller 160. Or Older thermoarc ... Machines i have owned minus the160. I had a Zena mobile welder, I don't think that ran 6010 either. |
