Im looking for a water cooled torch to replace my CK #17 air cooled. Will a #20 water cooled use the same sized consumables from the #20 air cooled? Whats a good alternative to CK that is priced better?
Reply:No such thing as a #20 air cooled. The torch that is the same size as the #20 (water cooled) that is air-cooled is called the #9. The #9 and #20 share the same exact consumables, which are not inter-changeable with your current #17.Aside from CK, there's the cheap chinese/overseas ones you find on Ebay/Amazon. I wouldn't call them a good alternative, but they do work. There is also WeldTec/Tec Torch that is top-notch, but it's the same basic pricing as CK and a lot harder to find distributors for. Just bite the bullet and get CK.

Reply:Yea the 18 shares the consumables with the #17 and #26, but it is "clunkier"/heavier. Sometimes the weight is a good thing so you don't shake as much, but the size can get in the way for tight corners.
