I have an ancient DC 250 in my garage with an LN7 wire feed that has been working flawlessly for over 40 years. I moved it home when I closed my steel shop in a former lifetime and for the most part it gathers dust. The last time I plugged it in it worked fine. Today I need to weld some .080 sheet and the wire has no amperage to it. I have checked all the connections and everything seems to be OK. It will turn the wire red but no arc. Anyone have any ideas?
Reply:The only time I remember seeing something like that is when a person turns the voltage down too low.Wire comes out, contacts the metal, sticks and turns red.Have you put a meter on it to check the open circuit voltage and then the attempted welding voltage?Dave J.Beware of false knowledge; it is more dangerous than ignorance. ~George Bernard Shaw~ Syncro 350Invertec v250-sThermal Arc 161 and 300MM210DialarcTried being normal once, didn't take....I think it was a Tuesday. |
