My 4x6 bandsaw is cutting crooked all of a sudden. A square is tight at the top of the cut but off by 1/8" at the bottom. Usually messing with the bearing shafts fixes it but this time it won't. Problem is that one side is a straight shaft and the other side is eccentric which allows you to move the blade over. But I can't move it far enough because the fixed shaft stops it. I'd like to have eccentric shafts on both sides but I can't find any place online where I can get them. The saw is old, similar to Harbor Freight's saw but not theirs. No name on it or it's been painted over. Does anyone know where I can get eccentric shafts for it?
Reply:I think you will find that the low cost option to resolve this problem is,,,, simply buy an new HF saw.Like you said, there is no name on it,, back in the 1980's. there were probably more than 50 little companies building VERY similar saws, but each one was slightly different.I have a 9X16 capacity JET brand saw that is made in Japan, and probably younger than yours. From the factory, the vise was "quick acting", but, it wore out, The Jet dealer said the part was no longer available, but, he knew a "GUY" that made a drop-in replacement that worked, but, eliminated the quick acting feature.I bought that part, at least the saw works, but sometimes you have to turn the crank handle for OVER A FOOT of vise travel!!Your search may end up like my hope of having the quick acting function back,,, only a dream.
Reply:Is it a new blade and do you have good bearings? On my jet 5x6.  I modded (by filing an edge) the adjustable roller assembly arm so it twisted the blade more vertical.  I was training it to be a like big saw. I am pretty sure you can make the cam offset drilling an appropriate sized rod. And brazing or gluing it onto a bolt..  I seem to recall doing that on a saw prior to the jet, when i wanted 4 cam.  It was unnecessary.  I think the cam are to minimize play and flex not straighten the cut, so much
Reply:If it was my saw I make a new one.Dave

Reply:It is coming back to me... On the jet, I first filed the groove (wider) in the roller assembly that allows the roller to slide up and down.  They initially did not allow enough rotation to make the blade perpendicular.  I later filed the arms for more twist and allowed my to fine tune with the roller assembly.  The jet arm were not flat bars they were cast with a ridge along the edge so there as not much filing needed.
