Used Lincoln Square Wave TIG from Amazon

Has anyone ever bought or considered buying a used TIG welder from Amazon? I am not positive on which welder I am getting but I am leaning towards the Lincoln 200 square wave. I see Amazon has them $2300 new or a seller on Amazon has several of them used - like new condition for $1600. If they truly are like new I don't see how you could go wrong with saving $700 on that option. I am a little concerned it might be missing a parts, or well used or not working correctly, Although the seller has very good ratings. Anyone have any thoughts?
Reply:Run away. The warranty doesn't transfer and you don't want to buy a machine with no warranty.

Reply:I wonder why people are selling used welders on Amazon. Do welders wear down like a pencil or like brake linings, and after 2500 hours you replace them? Were they used in a school or somethng?I don't get it.

Reply:only one question to ask. Is the seller authorized by Lincoln to sell these welders.You can ask Lincoln to double check. That way the new welder will have the full 3 year warranty and you can buy a 5 years parts and labor extended warranty. technically the warranty does not transfer. when a welder is resold. But they will be repaired under warranty if still in warranty by the serial number date.a squarewave 200 serial number will read M32008-------. This first part is all that matters. M3 is the plant code.(Mexico #3) year2020 month August.I repair a lot of these units. Basically we put a complete welder inside the case.Only the front panel terminals, cooling fan and gas valve and the case stay the same. Watch the Lincoln web site, some times they put these on at a special price.buying one of these with no warranty at 1700 may look good until you have to spend 1000 to fix it in the next 6 months or right away. Then you will have a almost new welder with a 1 year warranty. for 2700.
