Weld mild steel to cast iron with flux core?

I have the ubiquitous 4x6 metal cutting bandsaw.  Mine's a Delta.  I want to weld a piece of mild steel (1/8", cold or hot rolled) to the side of the cast iron movable jaw.  Can this be done?  And can it be done with my HF Titanium Flux 125 welder?

Reply:Have you hit it with a grinder to do a spark test ? Its probably some kind of cast steel, I've welded mine back together(broken frame) after someone ran into mine with a forktruck and dragged it 20 ft. It might not be pretty, but I used 6011 on mine about 4 or 5 years ago and I still use it nearly every day. The base metal is steel of some sort, but not very clean, weld on mine wasn't shiny. Kind of greyish with black speckles. If your just making the vise bigger to hold something just put a few heavy tacks you can grind off later in case you don't need the plate there any more. HF 125 should be able to make something functional. Reply:Can you use screw, tap the vise?  What are you doing?  If it is cast iron, flux core may not hold long,
Reply:How strong does it need to be? Would epoxy work?
