I found this welder on Facebook marketplace for $350. The guy claims it is an sa 200? I've never seen one that looks like this. I was guessing it was an old hobart? He said it has a hudson powerdome 232 in it and it has max of 250 amps. Does anybody know what it is and if it would be worth getting and fixing up

Reply:Lincoln SAE something, 200-250. The gap between the engine and generator usually was from a stand alone belt drive generator (build your own welder) being direct coupled to an appropriate engine. 40 years ago I had an SAE 200 mated to a Willys 4 cylinder with a chain coupler. It was a definete mutt, but it could burn rod. |
