Background Info:1979 Blackface SA200 Code 8023PrestoLite IBT 4705 1 M DistributorLooking at the manual for the SA200 and trying to get my brain wrapped around a few things since I am not even close to being a mechanic but I am determined to fix this welder and get it back in service. If piston 1(closest to the radiator) is at max compression (TDC - top dead center), should I see the DC mark on the flywheel or the (T - timing mark) in the window behind the oil bath? With the #1 piston at max compression should the cam on the distributor shaft be at the maximum height forcing the contact point on the breaker arm to be at its widest opening (.020) and should I see the DC or T in the window behind the oil bath?Trying to do some troubleshooting on my welder and determine why I am not seeing a spark on the end of the spark plug that I have out when cranking it over. I have a new coil ordered but have not received it yet. The old one tested 6.9 ohms on the Primary Winding and 10.90K ohms on the Secondary Winding but the coil has a dent in the side that is about 1/4' recessed. Called BW parts but Randy was not sure what the Ohms reading should be on the coil and suggested I order a new one.Any help would be appreciated.
