Hi, I was just wondering if it would be possible to throw a nicer tig torch on my Primeweld machine. I have been looking around but haven't found any torch that runs on the weird (outlet?) my machine runs to the stock torch. The picture below is low quality as it is from the website itself but I can add a higher res one later today. Essentially its just a brass fitting that it externally threaded and the torch screws on over it. Just wondering if anyone else has tried this on a similar machine/ has successfully done so.

Reply:A lot of the Chinese machines are coming with that odd metric gas fitting. You can remove the one from your old torch and install on the new one. Or, I took took one of mine to NAPA and they got me a coupler that that went from that metric fitting to 1/4 pipe female . Then you get an AW14A inert (5/8-18) fitting to screw into it. That gets you to what we use in the USA. I just don't remember the size of the metric fitting.Thermal Arc 320SP ( Lorch )Cobra PythonsThermal Arc 300 AC/DC  ( Sanrex )ESAB 301i AC/DC  ( Lorch )Thermal Arc 161STL  ( WTL )Thermal Arc 190S  ( Sanrex )Cut Master 82, 42. Reply:Nah, don't do any of that..just go to the pros at HTP America. They make fitting and torches for EVERYTHING. As proof I offer you: https://usaweld.com/collections/prim...and_gas_supplyIf you decide to go water cooled, give them a ring and they will custom make what you need.Miller Multimatic 255
Reply:Thank you, I've been looking all over for adapters and fittings and all that. I do find it very important to know the fittings incase I need to switch around adapters later, but for now I'll go with the simplest way. One other question, is it worth it to get a flex head torch or a swivel lock with a gimbal sort of thing (which would be better if so)? I don't have one right now, but they do seem useful especially since I have a pretty bad work setup right now.Century FC-90Primeweld TIG 200D
Reply:Personally I wouldn't invest anything in the machine you have, not even a new torch. I suspect that in short order you will want a better machine that has pre-flow, post-flow 2T/4T sequencing, AC as well as DC, pulse, etc. The TIG 200-DC is just too basic, and before long you will be saving up for a better machine like the Primeweld 225.Miller Multimatic 255
Reply:Very true, but I am asking for this for Christmas, and eventually said torch could be used on the next machine I purchase, particularly if I get used to it. The stock torch on a machine at the $400 price point is obviously terrible. Truthfully I did consider going for the 225 but I have no real use for aluminum yet. While I wanted to get it, I decided the 200 was a decent starting point and I could grow from there. I am not getting the full potential out of my machine as is, I don't do stainless or other "picky" metals, and I have to haul all my gear outside to weld.Century FC-90Primeweld TIG 200D
Reply:Yeah that torch will not easily transfer to a new machine unless you sink even more money into it. The 225 already comes with the upgraded CK brand torch. But hey, it's your Christmas gift. I am just letting you know I have been down this road personally in the past. You would be better off resisting the death by 1000 cuts.
