I was doing some research recently and I was wondering what the differences between stainless and chromoly steels are. Both have semi-substantial amounts of chromium (obviously chromoly has molybdenum as well), but what does that mean for their composition? In other words, what advantage does one pose over the other in weight, weldability, or tensile strength hardness? I know chromoly is used for bike parts and race car frames and stainless is used for exhaust piping and medical/ food grade products but thats about it.Century FC-90Primeweld TIG 200D |
