Hey all I'm new. This seems to be a pretty huge forum which is awesome since most of them are on there deathbed.  My name is Ed. I'm out in Southwest,Mo. So i have a vantage 300 that I'm not really sure what to do with. Where to begin......  Ok  got this machine. It has 4400 hours .Got a bucket of parts and the doghouse/shell has be of removed but I have it.Injection pump is missing.I don't know  if i should try and put it back together or not mess with it. I do hobby welding and stuff around the farm so don't really need such a big machine. That being said I like this machine I just don't really know where to go with it. I'm in it right(price wise) unless i go crazy spending money on it and it never runs again. I was hoping someone might be interested in helping me figure out if its worth saving. Any input would be greatly appreciated as I'm pretty out my depth on this one. The machine has been sitting for over a year outside under a lean to. Everything was open to outside elements other then not getting directly rained on. I taped up all the open engine ports today to try and avoid further damage. Motor spins freely going go get a compression tester tomorrow and check that. Going have to grab a meter bc I left mine on the ground under truck and ya now the rest. I have heard that when the chopper board on this machine goes out. The machine is pretty much toast. Looks like from around 1500.00-2500.00. I found a video on youtube of how to test the chopper board and will do that tomorrow. What else as far as the electronics on the welder do i need to check out and how do i go about that? Assuming that the welding components are good can move on to other side.So machine has a Kubota v1505 and as always kubota stuff is not cheap which is a plus/minus for me on one hand v1505 motors are selling online in unknown running condition for what i have in the whole thing. Otherside is if i start spending money on it its going get expensive. Really i don't want to spend more then 1200 bucks or so to get it running. Or attempt to i guess. Main issue provided has compression is going to be fuel system. Pump and injectors are going run 850.00 or so from what i can find online. But the issue is that i don't have the old pump so i don't know what the timing weights are supposed to be. Does that mean the motor has to come out and be setup on a bench with a pump?Again my first thought was to just find another motor but anything Im finding is upwards of 3500.00. I understand that this is a big money machine and its going take money to fix I'm just trying to get a realistic idea of what i have gotten myself into here. Are there any options for another motor that will bolt into bell housing that is a little more cost efficient?I apologize in advance if these questions have been answered or discussed as i have not used the search button. But know thy self i am usually pretty quick to just order parts and try to get something running but with so many unknowns going trying to get out ahead of myself here and just ask questions. I know that's all pretty long winded but just trying to be thorough. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,ED
