Winter is rearing its ugly head.Figured today was a good day to winterize the shop.

We're in the upper 40's today...........minute the tarps went up, the heaters shut down. Amazing how much wasted heat goes to the roof, or out the door. It's that time of year when the heating bills start, the mice come inside, and the rats decide its warmer under the hood of your truck.

Propane tank filled about 3 weeks ago ($1.80/gallon), and all the supplies are in................. YUK!!!!!!Possible rain for next 3 days, lows near 20* sometime this week I think. The wet is putting all welding on hold..............but it gives me a chance to finish the output shaft. Make a decision today as to whether go with 1144 for the new nut.........takes a few days to get here if I do.Stay warm peoples

The kicker was the tensile strength, and yield.

Done deal...........the 1144 is inbound.
Reply:Looks like your weather isn't any warmer than ours right now. We're supposed to get rain/snow on Sat. but above freezing temps so hopefully it doesn't stick around yet...When I re-insulated the old barn for a heated shop, I put mothballs between each stud and a metal termite strip outside under the steel. So far I'm only catching maybe 5 or 6 mice a yr in the shop.250 amp Miller DialArc AC/DC StickF-225 amp Forney AC Stick230 amp Sears AC StickLincoln 180C MIGVictor Medalist 350 O/ACut 50 PlasmaLes
Reply:The best and easy cure for mice is to make a small trap door for the cats to be able to get in and out. I just cut a small square hole with a piece of thick carpet tacked all around except one corner at the bottom I never see any mice or sign of them for years. I used to have combines in the shed and if mice gets into them they can do a lot of damage I have a Big wooden box with a heat lamp in it for the cats in the winter |
