I've had 4 SA200's, 3/16" carbons on a limited basis... may be ok. 1/4" was always a struggle for them. Truthfully I wanted to keep mine tip-top for pipe work, so I bought a huge old cheap Hobart with a Detroit Diesel to deconstruct stuff.
Hobie as we called it, would run 3/8" round carbons or 1/4"x 5/8" rectangulars without a stutter.

Reply:I'm no SA expert but my old pipeliner welding instructor who overhauls his own refuses to gouge with his and uses a cutting torch instead. He is why we scored a 600A Lincoln for gouging rather than beat on school machines.
