As far as I know, I got the 1st 252Sti. Here is the 1st video of the unboxing.
Reply:Wow,You're about the first one. Cool.Yeah, that little bit of shipping damage is hardly noticable, but not a happy note nonetheless. It looks like the unit functions perfectly, and maybe Everlast staff will offer some bonus item if you can live with it. Or I'm sure they'll take it back, if not.Either way, please do share with us all about how you like the unit performance on that true, all-in-one, MIG with AC TIG, and three waveforms included too.Wheeeee.......

Reply:Well,It's nice that you're not intimidated in doing some adjusting to the unit. So, I'm guessing that you'll be keeping this particular unit. I skimmed through the video, and got the impression that there's not much that's visually detectable from the outside, damage-wise, except on the underside.Maybe you have some figure or item in mind that Everlast might compensate you with to make you're new unit seem to be an even better experience. I mean, I'm guessing you've taken advantage of the advanced-shipment introductory price, which will probably never be seen again. But maybe Everlast would be willing to throw in a TIG water cooler or something similar. In any event, I'm looking forward to seeing and hearing about you and others are finding how the AC TIG portion (which is the innovative part that no other brand on the planet has in a multi unit), in particular, performs on this new and revolutionary unit.
Reply:Mine arrived today! I was surprised to see when I opened mine that it comes with an 18 series water cooled torch. Don't tell my wife that I just ordered the Powercool W300. I hadn't planned on going water cooled right away, but I guess it saves me some in the long run. Had to run back out to the garage after seeing this thread to check for drop damage. Looks like mine was safe.I'll try to post some action shots once I get set up and pick up some shielding gas, or possibly take it to work with me and see what our fab flight folks think about it. If i'm being honest, I think the metals tech shop is exclusively decked out with blue gear.
Reply:Ha, ha, ha...Yeah, the fun begins...It really is a great time to be welding with these new and advanced machines, like Everlast is putting out, which are surprisingly affordable, and which might have cost tens of thousands of dollars only ten years ago, if they they were even available then, which they weren't.I mean, I remember when, in the 1990s, I paid nearly $300, for an 8MB stick of RAM (memory) for my Apple computer. And now I can get 8GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD hard drive for about that price today. So, inspite of the State expansion of the fiat-currency supply (which causes differing amounts of Price Inflation in all sectors, and is counterfeiting if you or I were doing it), there are still some powerful Deflationary forces at work in the semi-Free Market and amongst capitalist job and durable goods producers.Fun times!!!!!!!!Last edited by C. Reply:Received mine today!  I also got the 18 water cooled torch with mine which was unexpected, guess I wont be doing any TIG for a while.  I also ordered a 17 roto flex torch and stubby kit that hasnt shipped yet.  Had minor shipping damage to the front end on the bottom.  The front support "leg" was pushed up and couldn't open the MIG wire door, minor percussive maintenance and its back to functioning as advertised.  Powered it up to make sure it cycled through everything but haven't burned anything yet.  Dang thing is huge though, barely fits on my cart the way they normally would!
Reply:Gee,Despite those being packaged in their own wooden crate, that's two that have taken a knock. So, will the unit and the water cooler fit onto the cart well?I wouldn't mind seeing a photo of your cart fully set up with it.
Reply:This welder is way too heavy to haul around portable, and it's almost too big to be on a cart. This is what I did with mine. It uses the factory bolts and bolt holes. It also uses the factory bracket on the bottom, to hold the axle. I just gotta figure out how I'm gonna secure a bottle to it.http://i1034.photobucket.com/albums/...pszco1zywq.jpghttp://i1034.photobucket.com/albums/...psqikwfvmz.jpghttp://i1034.photobucket.com/albums/...ps7atjob0c.jpghttp://i1034.photobucket.com/albums/...psvw8z9xka.jpghttp://i1034.photobucket.com/albums/...psj9owrfew.jpghttp://i1034.photobucket.com/albums/...ps7rwddlck.jpghttp://i1034.photobucket.com/albums/...psc6vmzkev.jpghttp://i1034.photobucket.com/albums/...psoo3voiz0.jpg
Reply:Hey,That's clever; elegantly integrating it as a rolling chassis, like a lot of MIG units or the Miller Syncrowave 210.That retrofit to the old handle spot and adjustable aluminum hardware up top rocks!

Reply:Thanks. It took a little machining, but I think it turned out ok. Now I just need a water cooler and some smaller V rollers and I'll be welding.
Reply:Here is some pictures on the cart Christian, please ignore the mess of a shop, its winter time! LOL

Reply:For reference, those are 125CF bottles and its almost 21" across the top of the cart.

Reply:Yeah,Those new Vulcan carts are massive and well-priced. And it looks like you have room that big Everlast unit and something else to go sidways like that. Nice.I got a NorthernTool/MetalMan cabinent welding cart a few years ago, that was just right for my unit. But there was a bigger one that I sometimes wish I had gotten, just so that I might someday have a couple of units turned that way up there.
Reply:I just realized with that picture I have no brand loyalty whatsoever! LOL   Everlast welder on a Harbor Freight (Vulcan) cart, ESAB hood on top with a set of Miller gloves, Hobart rods, and my Lincoln AC225 just out of the picture!
Reply:Yeah,I took an auto-buffer to get the big logo and brand name off my Everlast welder and the Northern Tool cart, not because I don't like the brands, but because I don't like the billboard effect.

Reply:You bet, Preciv! But I'll just give you a link to the project itself, as I did reverse the drawer pull-side to it. And there's some other modifications and retrofitting touches to it.It's on my non-monetized, non-compensated by any brand or seller, YouTube Channel (don't hate me for that, ha, ha, ha), and the video is kind of long, too, as I recall.

Reply:Something that it took me a minute to notice and that sort of upset me a little. There is no spot to automatically power a water cooler from the back of the 252. I know other units had this feature. I guess i'm also ordering an air cooled tig torch for the time being, until I figure out how I want to power my cooler. Maybe Lugweld can stop in and give us a reason they didn't include this feature on the 252, and chose to include the 18 water cooled torch.I had the idea of that Vulcan welding cart in mind, but seeing how beefy this machine is when on there, now i'm not sure. Has anyone given thought to one of the ZT Fab carts? I'm sure none of them are quite set up for the exact size, but I'm tempted to make that my first project with this new machine.Still really happy with my purchase, and very happy with the quality of the mig welds I was able to lay down in very short time. The Synergic settings were a little hot, but that was probably because I was running .035 wire instead of something smaller. Ended up dialing in about 18 volts and 170ipm to lay some beads on some .065 or so thickness scrap sheetmetal. Started at 17-170 but the beads were stacking up instead of penetrating. I also think that may have had something to do with the 3/8 solid copper table top too though. It probably pulled all the heat from the first couple beads.
Reply:From my conversation with Mark the other day, the 18 torch being sent out was a factory packing mistake, so I guess it was a free (sorta) upgrade!  He said what most people do is cut the factory plug off the welder and then run both the cooler and the welder wires to the same plug as the cooler only draws 2-3 amps.  I wondered about getting the socket that is with the large TIG machines and modifying my case for it, but I figure that would void my warranty even if it did look good.

I'll get it figured out eventually and post up some pictures when I do.

Reply:Just thought I would post some update photos since the W400 water cooler arrived yesterday.  Had a couple of minor issues with the shipping, seems UPS likes kicking Everlasts products off the back of the trucks and broke my fill cap!  Also had a wire inside that had a bad connection, so I recrimped a new end on it.  Had to do a minor relocation of the back stacking rail to fit the mighty 252, but its all good in the hood!  Also included a photo of my Cooler Power outlet mod!  Hopefully I still have a warranty! LOL

it's convenient for some but unnecessary to add external power for other devices off the back of the unit, just run one line to the cart (heavy gauge) and that line powers a mini-load center built into the cart, for the stuff on the cart.

Reply:Seems to be a really nice welding machine.  Still trying to figure out the best settings on it, certainly took a huge leap forward in technology and control from my Lincoln AC225! MIG runs nice and smooth.  TIG seems to work well, I just suck at it!  Going to take a lot of practice I think to get decent at it, but it is fun!
Reply:Ok, so I returned my 252. Everlast was really good about honoring their "satisfaction guaranteed" policy. I got the full return price plus they paid for shipping. Big thumbs up for Everlast. My issues with the 252 were, hopefully, just a factory defect. I couldn't get any constants out of the machine (wire speed, amperage or voltage). Everything was floating. For instance, on Std MIG mode, when I set my IPM to 600 (Max), I was only getting about 108 amps. At that max IPM setting, the wire (.035) should have been pecking at the weld puddle like a wood pecker with spatter everywhere. In synergic mode, I set max amps and the welder self adjusted the amps and wire speed down. It seemed to me that voltage self regulated all the other parameters. Adjusting parameters was a real PITA too. Lets say you want to adjust inductance. You press the arrow button to get over to that parameter and if you don't make an adjustment within 3 seconds, it defaults back to the first parameter. 9 memory settings is way too little for this machine and settings in synergic mode should be able to be saved as well. I never got to play around with the Tig on this welder unfortunately, so I cant give any opinions on that.
Reply:Wire speed and amps are the same thing, just a different way of expressing it.  Amps will vary as you are welding. So will voltage a little. At the start, the unit has a slow run in, so amps will not be as high.   I am not sure what is wrong with the unit you had.  I think a bit of it was misunderstanding of how the unit works and communication between us.  But that is our fault there as we are taking our time to make sure the manual is comprehensive. And I'm sure the balance of the issue could simply be a bad programming that didn't take on the board. The manual will be up soon, to hopefully allow everyone to readit before buying.  But yes, 3 seconds may not seem like a long time, but for some, we've had complaints it was too long to wait for it to default back to the welding amp/speed setting.  The set up is no different than the 252Si as far as how it functions.  This unit has been really well received.  There are disadvantages to every unit and there are trade offs, but without knowing what is wrong with the unit, and waiting for someone to test the unit out thoroughly when it is received, it's hard to know how to respond.Esab Migmaster 250Lincoln SA 200Lincoln Ranger 8Smith Oxy Fuel setupEverlast PowerPlasma 80Everlast Power iMIG 160Everlast Power iMIG 205 Everlast Power iMIG 140EEverlast PowerARC 300Everlast PowerARC 140STEverlast PowerTIG 255EXT
Reply:Mark, I don't mean to undermine your knowledge but I disagree on "wire speed and amps are the same thing". One does affect the other but only in one way. Wire speed DOES affect amperage, but amperage should NOT affect wire speed. I tried adjusting the ramp up amperage to quite a bit higher than the default (I think default was 60) so I could do a hot spot weld but was getting cold welds. Do people really complain about 3 seconds being too long? I kinda find it hard to believe anyone wants it to default back to the first parameter. It makes adjusting any given parameter very difficult when you have to constantly arrow back to the one you are adjusting. What you guys had going with your older welders and the separate knobs for each parameter was brilliant and very simple. You could adjust what you wanted at just a quick turn of a knob. I did try settings that the guys in your tech dept. recommended, but they just didn't work. Also the Miller settings calculator does not work with your welders. That's why it's real important for you guys to have your own "ballpark settings" chart for your welders inside the wire spool compartment. I admit, my own personal welder ATM is just a POS Harbor Freight Dual Mig 151, but I have extensive experience (40+ yrs.) with many other high end welders.Millermatic 35'sMillermatic 300'sMiller CP 302'sMiller CP 300'sMiller CP 200Miller XMT 304Miller XMT 350Miller Syncrowave 250'sMiller AerowaveMiller Suitcase weldersMiller BobcatLincoln Ranger 9'sLincoln robotic weldersAirco Tig weldersEtc.So I do know how to setup, what to listen for, and what to expect from a welder. That's why I truly believe there was something wrong with the welder I had. If you guys test the welder that I sent back, could you please let me know what you found? I think you guys have a great thing going with your innovative products. There are just some bugs that need to be worked out for these welders to be the best welders on the market.

Reply:Mark, did you guys test that welder I sent back?
Reply:Well I guess that answers the question on how reliable Everlast customer support is.
Reply:I don't have access to those records. I am not in that part of it. I have other parts that I am responsible for. and a lot going on besides this forum.    The testing would be done at the repair center if it went that route.   You can call them and find out.  But I don't have your tracking or any way to check more than you do.  But if you returned it and it was refunded promptly, then how can customer support be unreliable?  What mgt. decides to do with it from there is their option.  It will definitely not get priority attention.  It'll be fixed and used for a loaner or something but when they can fit it into their priority, since you returned the unit that way.  Someone will test it.  But no, they don't tell me every detail of whose and what's.Esab Migmaster 250Lincoln SA 200Lincoln Ranger 8Smith Oxy Fuel setupEverlast PowerPlasma 80Everlast Power iMIG 160Everlast Power iMIG 205 Everlast Power iMIG 140EEverlast PowerARC 300Everlast PowerARC 140STEverlast PowerTIG 255EXT
